Anna celebrates her first birthday today. I can't believe it. It's already been a year. We have had a blessed year with her. She has taught us a lot. We have become better doctors, dentists, nutritionists, and otolaryngologists.
We have a new appreciation for the ABC's, rubber duckies, rocking horses, and slobbery kisses. We now understand how cute first teeth can be, how fun it is to watch her suck her thumb, to learn how to crawl, to walk, to feed herself.
We know that the most precious words she's ever uttered are "Mama" and "Dada". And that her saying "bye bye" when we leave for work somehow makes our day better.
We know what it means to hurt when she's hurt, to laugh when she laughs, and to find joy in the littlest things.
More than ever, our understanding of how much a blessing children are is clear. "Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, The fruit of the womb is a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, So are the children of one’s youth. Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them." Psalm 127: 3-5a
She has taught us patience, the value of family meals, and what it means in every sense to be a parent.
Most of all, she has shown us how great God's love for us is in that how much we love her is so small and tiny compared to how much God loves us. She has made us better people, better spouses...better everything.
Happy 1st Birthday Anna - We Love You!
