Thank You! Thank You! Thank You!

The past couple of weeks have been busy. We have been getting everything in place for Anna’s arrival, which now may be days instead of weeks. Phoebe gets more anxious everyday. I am pretty sure that one of the next posts you read will most likely include Anna's picture.
In the past two weekends we experienced three baby showers. We are really appreciative of all of our family and friends who have been a part of this special time in our lives. So many of our needs have been met. We are well
prepared for Anna's arrival. Have I said "Thank you" yet? Just in case, "Thank You All".

My side of the family had a shower on the 14th. We were surprised by my Aunt who drove from Houston, Texas just to be there (Thanks Aunt Carolyn). I was able to visit ladies that I haven’t seen in years who were involved in my childhood.

Once again I was there to partake in the festivities of games, cake, and cheese dip. One of the games played was the string game. Everyone passes a ball of yarn around and cuts a piece of yarn that they think would go around Phoebe’s belly. It was quite interesting. I think some could have wrapped an elephant twice with their string. It was funny. There was a lot of pressure on me when it was my turn. All eyes were staring as I measured my piece. I thought and thought… I pulled the yarn out and cut a piece about 3 inches off. I held it up. There were oohs and awes for several seconds. I scored some brownie points that day which I will probably use up on delivery day.

The next day (15th) we had a shower on Phoebe’s side of the family. You can’t have too much cake and cheese dip in one weekend can you? They played a game called “Guess what the baby ate!” Yes, it’s just as weird as you’re thinking. The picture to the right explains the whole thing… a bunch of folks passing diapers around smelling them along the way. Before the shower began, candy bars were placed in diapers and then microwaved. You had to guess which candy bar was in which diaper. It was easy for me, but I do know candy bars. (You should have seen the payday. It was gross.)

This past Saturday (21st) our Sunday School Class at church held a shower. This brought the mothers up. The three (Phoebe, Mom, & Mom) of them went and had a great time.

(Bro. A, you’d be happy to know that I skipped out on this one.) I had manly work to do. Dad and I put in a new garage door opener. Phoebe had this weird idea. After 4 years of living in this house, she decided that she wants to park in the garage. I had been using it for storage. It took me a week of moving and hauling things off to make room for a car. But I did it without whining (this doesn’t count).

On a more serious note, we went to the Doctor yesterday. Anna is still doing great. Phoebe has a little swelling in her ankles and feet. Doctor said that’s normal. Her blood pressure has been a little high. We are watching it, but no big deal yet. He did say yesterday that Anna is head down and already in the right position. Phoebe is dilated 1.5 cm. We are just waiting. Phoebe came home last night and packed her bags just in case.

Thanks for reading and being a part of the Anna Grace Fan Club. You can count on me to keep you posted.

Mark,
Glad to hear you guys had a great shower. I had your gift , saw your mom at Wal-Mart and got directions to the shower, and then completely forgot about it. I think sometimes I am losing my mind...I'll just say it's a lack of sleep instead. I am really sorry, but I am going to get the gift to your mom to bring up. I hope Anna comes soon because I know Phoebe is ready. I was dilated 1 cm and 80% effaced for 3 weeks! I too freaked out after the doctor told me the first time, came home and packed our bags (which we lived out of for about a month and kept in the car because I was scared to unpack or leave them at home), and then got increasingly mad and tearful each week thereafter because nothing was changing. I'll keep you guys in my prayers. I am so excited for you both. We have ordered birth announcements so you all should be getting a picture of Layne soon. He is changing every day! Talk to you later.
